I went to Starbucks. They are everywhere. On the highway, downtown, in Safeway, even Albertsons now. The coffee is always the same and they all have free wifi.
Here are some other places I’ve been so far.
Saint Regis Travel Center
St Regis, Montana

What’s in a name? The St Regis Travel Center is all that your highway crossed heart could desire: truck stop, gas station, gift shop, casino, grill, smoothie bar, art gallery, trout aquarium! That nut flavored espresso from a self service machine… If we called it by another name, boiling hot coffee from a corrugated paper cup would smell as sweet.

Coffee Crossing
Livingston, Montana

Only a brief stop here but the coffee was hot and strong, the wifi worked, and the barista (baristo) was cordial and helpful. This is a hole-in-the-wall cozy atmosphere cafe with not a lot of space so I’m sure it gets crowded.

Old Faithful Lodge Cafeteria
Yellowstone, Wyoming

This is the place to get a hot coffee to sip waiting for Old Faithful to blow. The selections are refined to the necessities: drip, americano, latte, mocha, tea. And the prices remind me of home! I had a feeling that paying a premium for espresso in hot water at this traditional national park cafeteria would deliver on its promise of both caffeine and scalding hot water. I was not disappointed! I couldn’t drink that coffee for at least 30 minutes. Just enough time to sit and contemplate life near the eternal fountain.
